I was really stunned when first coming to social media and found people from Jr. High (now called Middle School) and High School friending me who I barely recalled.  Yet they, by and large, had invented friendships between us that never were!  Some females acted as if I had been an old boyfriend when in fact they never said "Hi" to me back then! 

I could not figure out how this occurred.  Conscious or unconscious manipulation of time??  Did they think they knew me because I was on stage??  Did my music create a semblance of intimacy that never existed?? 

Then I came across this quote: 

"Your memory is really some guy making stuff up. I discovered as an adult that I had whole chunks of memories of things that didn’t happen."-author Steven Galloway 

Maybe that is it?  People filled in the blanks of the past with their own fiction to have something to remember. 

I can truly honestly say that a good number of SM contacts never were friends of mine.  We never hung out together.  We never played music together.  We never acted together.  They never aided in any film project I created (from scratch).  They probably did not even KNOW I made films from 1970-1978!!  And certainly no one on earth ever helped me write a single word. 

Who are you and who am I??  I know... I remember... You can't fool me.  I KNOW.
